RedLight Sims now being hosted on M and M Needful Things! |
|
As some of you may, or may not, know, SimHost will be closing their doors on June 1st, the day of their 5th Anniversary.
I am very honoured to let you all know that because of this, we will be hosting all of the files from RedLight Sims and the Pearl! I contacted the owner of SimsHost (we have known each other for a few years, so this wasn't a hard feat) and I asked him what they were planning on doing with any of the adult files that they have on SimsHost, and he talked to the owner of RedLight Sims who said that they would love it if we would host their files, so here we are.
There is also some other files made by The Pearl which I will be putting up for download shortly.
The owner of RedLight Sims asked that we keep the files as Exclusive Only Files due to the Adult Content, which will make it harder for youngsters to get their paws on them, which has always been my way of thinking too.
You can find all of the RedLight Sims files HERE
Permissions:
"All items from Red Light Sims are distributed by M and M Needful things with permission from Luz Roja, the Red Light Sims webmaster and artist who created them. If there is any doubt, you are welcome contact the erstwhile webmonster for SimsHost for confirmation, either here or on the Sun Sims board. His username is Greg in both places."

Hooray! They're here! Thanks, Mal!
Just so that there won't be any doubt: MMNT does have full permission from Luz Roja (the Red Light Sims webmaster) to distribute her stuff, and also full permission to distribute the stuff from The Pearl.
Both of us would prefer that these be MMNT-members-only things if it's reasonable to do it that way.
If anybody needs more confirmation of this, you're welcome to stop by my new toys, Sun Sims or The Pearl's Chateau and ask me there. Or ask on one of the Insim boards; I hang out there, too. (I'm "Chairman Greg" on insimenator.net and just "Greg" on insimadult.net.)
And just in case anyone is wondering about the stuff from The Wage of Sim: When he closed his WOS site, Richard granted full, blanket permission for folks to distribute his work, hoping that people would take him up on the offer. He told me this in private correspondence as well as posting a public notice on the site.
Sorry I haven't been around much. There are still a lot of things to do to tidy up the mess before SimsHost closes on June 1, and that has been dominating my time and mind share lately. Anyone who has a SimsHost subscription (not just a free membership), if you see it and want it, go ahead downlaod it. If your account runs dry, the accounting system will just ignore it and let you keep downloading.
If you've been thinking of maybe getting a SimsHost subscrption, well... sorry, but it's too late. The accounting system stopped accepting money at the beginning of April 2007. But take heart; many of the webmasters are looking for alternative ways to keep their stuff on line. Having stuff from Red Light Sims and The Pearl hosted by MMNT is an important part of that.

I'm just happy we're helping to save creations. A lot of work goes into making these things and even if 2 people make the same thing it would never turn out exactly the same. Everything made is different and unique in some way, reflecting the personality and talent of it's creator. To lose any of these creations would be very sad.

I've noticed a lot of sites we're shutting down so it's amazing to see everyone help each other. It's great.

I agree, Jason! The historical signficance of the stuff at Red Light Sims alone would justify the effort required to assure its preservation.
Hmm... and speaking of historical signficance, that little quote from Franklin Roosevelt's first inaugural address brings to mind another quotable bit from that speech:
| Quote: | | Happiness lies not in the mere possession of money; it lies in the joy of achievement, in the thrill of creative effort. The joy and moral stimulation of work no longer must be forgotten in the mad chase of evanescent profits. These dark days will be worth all they cost us if they teach us that our true destiny is not to be ministered unto but to minister to ourselves and to our fellow men. |
Gosh, that boy had some great speech writers!
